The Beau Heems, or
as they were known early on "Hoppie and the Beau Heems".
This was a band that was formed through Charles David Shelton
who ran the old "Spot" in the Westshore area.
This band consisted of Billy Carson, drums,
Richard Garrett, keyboards, Greg Hutchinson, lead guitar, Bob
Orick, bass guitar, Howard Simons, lead singer and Jimmy Eldridge
, rhythm guitar.
The band was originally managed by Mr. Bill
Carson, of Carson Plumbing, but then signed with Phil Gernhardt
and Laurie Records where they released several singles nationally
starting with their first "I Missed My Cloud".
The band played all over the state and southeast
along with other Phil Gernhardt, Laurie records bands such as
The Royal Guardsman. They opened at Curtis Hixon Hall for Laurie's
"Dave Clark Five".
