A
Special Tribute . . .
BUDDY
PENDERGRASS
Aug 10, 1947 ~ March 16, 2003
A true Tampa legend, Buddy Pendergrass
has thrilled bay area fans since he was a teenager playing
with such bands as The Tropics and White Witch. Buddy was
born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and moved to Tampa in the
1950s.
He was a true pro, a great keyboard player
that knew the value of entertainment. This guy was born
to entertain. Throughout the 1960s, 70s & 80s his face
was a constant fixture on Tampas Rock & Roll scene.
Late in 2002 Buddy was diagnosed with
cancer, it had attacked his system viciously before doctors
found the illness. Buddy fought hard and bravely against
this killer, but it had too much of head start. He died
peacefully on March 16th.
Buddy
leaves behind his wife, children, Mom and Dad, 2 sisters
and a legion of fans that have been supporting his music
for the better part of 5 decades.
55 years old is much too young to pass,
but it was a very rich 55 years Buddy lived. He crammed
a lot of life into those years. He lived life to its fullest,
stopping to smell every rose.
In 1998 Buddy found the Lord and his
life changed in a dynamic way. He had finally found what
he had been looking for, that void was filled and Buddy
was a new man, a complete man. He finally found happiness.
Buddy Pendergrass was loved by many,
and he will be missed by all.
