Chuck
Morgan
This Eerie Pa native
came to Tampa Bay in 1975 via WIFE in Indianapolis where he was
program director for the Bill Hennes programmed Rahall station.
He was the PD at Y95 (WLCY-FM) during the summer of 1976, one
of the greatest eras of that signal.
Morgan brought with him several key people
he worked with in Indy, including Ben Christopher and Bob Tracey
who would end up programming WLCY AM.
Morgan was at the helm at the time of the greatest
April Fools joke in bay area history. Night time jock Screaming
Jay Hawkins (Phil Hawkins see his bio in these pages), Tedd
Webb and Ben Christopher staged a fake stabbing. It sounded so
real, all hell broke loose. Hawkins got fired even though Morgan
knew and approved the bit.
Chuck went on to program many other stations
in his career, coming back to Tampa Bay briefly in the mid 90s
to program Mix 96.
He is now a consultant in the radio biz. E-mail:
