Well known morning man at WALT radio in the
late 50’s to 1960, the man who started Top 40 radio in Tampa
Bay in 1958. He went to afternoon drive where he posted a 52 share
in the Hooper survey, a record at the time.
He was canned in 1960 to make room for a guy
the station wanted to move down from their Ohio station. Dave
went across the street to WLCY where he hosted the mid day show,
and blasted WALT out of the water, making WLCY the #1 radio station
in Tampa Bay for years to come.
Dave went with fellow announcers Dick Stambaugh
and Rock Robbins (Robert B) to WFUN in Miami in 1963.
Dave is now living in Daytona Beach with his
wife Pat, still active doing sub announcing work at WORD AM, and
producing for PBS TV.
