Where Are They Now?

Diane Kacmarik - Meteorologist

When Florida's weather turns severe, Bay area viewers turn to Bay News 9 and the Weather on the Nines forecast team for the most up-to-date information available anywhere. And with the addition of Diane Kacmarik to the team, Bay News 9 is the station with the most AMS Seal-holding meteorologists in the Bay area.

Diane's meteorological career began at Penn State University in State College, Pa, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology.  From there, she moved on to Air Science Consultants in Bridgeville, Pa., where she did radio forecasts for cities in the U.S. and Canada and wrote forecasts for several large newspapers.  After that, Diane's career took her to WTOV-TV in Steubenville, Ohio; WATE-TV in Knoxville, Tenn.; Lexington, Kentucky's WLEX-TV, where she was Chief Meteorologist; and WDAF-TV in Kansas City, Mo.,  before coming to the Tampa Bay area as a meteorologist for WTSP, Channel 10.  Diane joined Bay News 9's Weather on the Nines team in 2004.

Throughout her career, Diane has worked on advanced weather technology, and has often reported on weather-related stories.  At WTOV in Ohio, she helped create the weather department from the ground up, and at WLEX in Lexington, she developed a severe weather procedure for the station.

Diane is a member of the American Meteorological Society, holding their Seal of Approval for Television Weathercasting.
