Jim Shafer

Born in upstate New York, Jim's radio career has taken him to St. Louis, Tampa, Cleveland, New York and Charlotte. He's been behind the microphone for everything from talk radio to country music, but loves oldies on Magic 96.1!

Jim was an outstanding member of the WFLA and WSUN teams in Tampa bay before departing for North Carolina, he also spent time working at Jai Alai with Mark Beiro and handled announcing duties at the Fronton.

Before teaming up with The Eggman, Jim was executive producer and on-air talent for the Charlotte Hornets NBA radio network for two seasons, as well as part of the broadcast play-by-play team for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL in the early 80's. A professional musician since high school, Jim's hobby these days is playing with The Eggman and Liz Luke with the Magic 96.1 Band of Gold. Whether opening for Magic's great rock-n-roll oldies concerts or playing a show at a county fair, Jim enjoys the reaction the fans give the band.

Jim and wife Maggie have two children, two dogs and reside in Charlotte.
