It is my 30th year in broadcasting and as
you know it all started for me as a college student at USF when
I started to work with Mitchell Mick and Mark - doing baseball
and all kinds of things for ISI and later Mutual Radio as a student
in 1974 while a sophomore at USF.
From 1977 - just out of college I became a member of WTOG as
the youngest News Director in the country in a Top 20 market.
Later in 1978 I would become the Executive Producer of live Programming
at WTOG at the age of 22. That year I also became the producer
of the John McKay Show, and the host of a weekly baseball show
on WTOG who became the first station in the country to be able
to air games from 8 different teams who trained in the Bay Area.
In 1979 I also began as a producer at a new network, ESPN who
I worked for on a variety of projects until 1990. In 1980 I left
WTOG to become the Senior VP and Executive Producer of a new
regional cable network in Ohio - Ten TV which did all the sports
in Cleveland. The Cav's, the Indians and the Browns. Also following
Big Ten sports for ESPN as a producer and director.
In 1983 I added to my duties the job of Executive Producer of
Sports Ticket a regional cable network that covered the Midwest
- mainly Ohio and Michigan. I was in charge of all of the cable
productions. The Cav's, Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers, and Indians.
We also handled Big Ten Sports. In 1984 as part of my duties
I took over the Big Ten Sports Network, as Executive Producer.
I directed over 30 football games and 70 college basketball games
over a three year time.
In 1985 I left Sports Ticket and became the VP of Special Project
of Malrite Communications in that capacity I directed over 200
concerts from Kenny Rodgers to Sting. Also as part of my job I
also moved over to WOIO TV - it was the most successful sign
on in FOX TV history. I also continued to do Big Ten sports as
well as other Cleveland sports.
In 1987 I left Cleveland to head on to Houston where I became
the Senior Producer of HSE in Texas where I covered the Astros,
the Rockets and all major colleges.
In 1988 HSE won the rights to develop a network in Florida,
at that time I became the first ever Senior Producer of Sunshine
Network and got it on the air. Later in 1989 I moved over to
Sports Channel Florida. I stayed with Sports Channel Florida
and Sports Channel America until they became part of Fox Sports
Network. I moved from Florida to Washington, DC in 1992 and became
the first ever Capitol Chief for Prodigy Online. So I was back
in the news business along with keeping my hand in sports with
Fox.
In 1995 till the present I started LJC, L.L.C.
Media -- my company handles Washington, DC coverage and also
we advise many major broadcasting companies and telco's on multi
media productions and webcasting.
Also I still write a twice a week sports
column that is internationally syndicated by SportsFeed to
over 2000 online sites world wide... www.sportsfeed.com with
over 2.2 million readers each week. |
