Joey Jay

Joey Jay was actually Joey Stier, from Elizabeth New Jersey. Joey came to WCWR in 1969 from WOR-FM in New York City where he had worked with John Anthony.

Joey did afternoon drive at the oldies stations 1470 until Barney Grovan (J. Paul Robinson) steered him, Tedd Webb, Anthony and Danny Miller (AJ Anello) to Asheville, North Carolina in late 1969 to program WKKE.

Joey stayed in North Carolina until 1970, when he left and went to work in Fort Lauderdale, and then finally on to Dallas. Joey worked country music his last few years in the biz.

He has not been heard from in quite some time.

He set a standard for tight board and talk up ability. One of the best.
