Where Are They Now?

Jon Grayson

Jon has been playing guitar since age 5, when he convinced his mom that piano lessons were not in their mutual interest. He's always had a fascination with music and musicians, crediting hip parents with introducing him to his early influences: The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Arlo Guthrie, Dr. Hook, Jimmy Buffett, et al. During the late '70s and early '80s Jon gravitated toward heavy metal and punk, but it was always the guitar gods--Page, Beck, Clapton, Hendrix--who interested him most.

In a way, it was music which led Jon down his career path into talk radio. After running sound for a friend's band in 1986 and 1987, Jon took a brief foray into music production before finally landing a gig producing talk shows in Florida. Since then, Jon has moved from behind the scenes to hosting the Evening Special and the late-night "Grayson Files" on News/Talk 1120 KMOX, the Voice of St. Louis. Jon was a founding member of TACB, along with singer Marc Jackson in 2003.

We all knew him as “Slice”, nick named given him by Jay Marvin, he was Marvin’s Producer. Jon Grayson has grown up. Jon Left WFLA radio to do a talk show in Nashville, he stayed there a couple of years and ended up doing KMOX in St Louis, that is one of the heritage stations in America, The Big Time. Listen to what they say about our own home boy Slice Grayson...

KMOX brings you the Grayson Files, a show as eclectic and whimsical as its host, Jon Grayson. Jon injects his own brand of wit and attitude into the issues of the day. Sometimes reflective, at times comical, the Grayson Files can always be counted on for great overnight entertainment.

Jon's "savagely independent" political view assures the listener will hear a strong view on any subject, free of particular philosophy. "Anyone who believes every plank of a political philosophy without exception, simply isn't thinking for himself."

Jon is fascinated by science and luminaries such as Carl Sagan, Richard Feynman and James "The Amazing Randi" while also being a fan of B-Horror Movies, True Crime Pulp novels, his wailing Fender riffs, cars with tail fins and making a wicked pizza form scratch with John Carney.

Having said all of that, expect the unexpected and tune in to hear for yourself each and every installment of The Grayson Files. We are very proud of Jon Grayson, making a name for himself in Talk Radio.

At home, Jon and his wife are raising two boys; BJ (age 13) and Cameron (age 9), two collies; Sirveaux (age 5) and Gypsy (age unknown, weight unknown), and a cat; Myst (evil, cynical, sociopathic). He's restoring a 1958 Plymouth, and enjoys long afternoons playing Madden 2004 on the PC (when he has the time).

Update:

Early in 2003, Jon Grayson (of KMOX 1120AM ) and Marc Jackson started The Amazing Colossal Band with the objective being an earthy, acoustic rock sound with solid vocal harmonies.

The original lineup debuted opening for Peter Tork (of The Monkees) in July of 2003. After the amicable departure of two members (Casey Babb and Kevin White), positions were filled respectively by Bruce Dyson on bass and vocals, and a couple months later Jim Ford on guitar and vocals. In September of 2004 violinst Greg MacNair joined the group, bringing a new texture to the band's sound. Percussion is of the handheld variety, making them adaptable to settings ranging from concert venues to coffee houses.

TACB gigs are casual with sets consisting of rock favorites classic and new, as well as TACB originals, played in an acoustic rock context with four-part vocal harmony.

"Enjoyed it. I really liked the song selection and the harmonies were great." -- Roger Clyne, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers

"This is an awesome band. Love the vocals, and the choice music." -- Jim Martin, British Export
