Liz
Richards
Liz came down to Tampa
Bay to work at Ch 10 as Producer of the John Eastman Show. She
had attended Kent State University, and was there during the student
riots that claimed 4 lives in 1970.
She started her career working radio in Cleveland,
and then went on to do TV.
Shortly after taking over producing duties
on the Eastman show, Liz became the host of her own TV show on
Ch 10.
After leaving TV, Liz went to work as a weekend
Talk Show Host at Newsradio 970 WFLA. She was a hit, and soon
became a regular host doing the mid day slot. Liz was controversial
in her approach, and always loved unloading on men. Her marriage
had been a disaster to a Cleveland radio man, and she felt all
men were like her ex. The gimmick worked, she developed a loyal
following.
After a tumultuous stint that had her dueling
it out with Bob Lassiter on the air, Liz ran into trouble at the
station. She was sent to work the overnight shift. That was the
last of her days at WFLA. She left the station on sour terms in
1989.
In 1991 Liz filed a sexual harassment lawsuit
against the station and several employees. The case lasted over
4 years in the courts before being settled. She was featured on
ABCs 20 20 program.
Liz left radio and attended law school at Stetson.
Today she has a very successful law practice in St. Petersburg,
Florida.
