This Tampa native got his start in music backing up such acts as Roy Orbison and Gene Pitney at the WLCY Star spectaculars at the Clearwater Auditor-ium, gigs promoted by the late AJ Perry.

Pinera then formed a group called "Blues Image". They rode to the top of the charts with their million selling "Ride Captain Ride in 1970. After brief stints with Iron Butterfly, Ramatam and Alice Cooper, Mike formed The Classic Rock All Stars, playing guitar with former Sugarloaf organist Jerry Corbetta, drummer Pete Rivera of Rare Earth, and the bass player from Cannibal and The Head Hunters. He still tours the country performing the hits of those respective bands.
