Milt
Spencer Milt Spencer was the first voice ever broadcast
on WFLA-TV...he put the station on the air on February 14, 1955
with a live telecast of the Gasparilla Parade. He remained an
announcer on both radio and television, doing station breaks,
commercials and even full shifts on the radio. His golden voice was known all over Florida.
In the 60's, he narrated sports events for NBC Radio while keep
up with his duties at Channel 8. With the passing of Guy Bagli
in 1971, he became sports director and held that position until
he became ill. During his broadcasting career, Milt was in
high demand all over the Bay Area wherever an emcee or announcer
was needed. He did lots of gigs at the horse track and at ball
games at Al Lopez Field. He died in the late 80's of throat cancer.
