Where Are They Now?

Ray Collins

Ray Collins anchored and reported for Newsradio 970 WFLA in the late 80's. He also did updates during Tedd Webb's Sports Huddle -- which Ray said was usually the highlight of his day. (While doing a news story about truckers using their CB radios to arrange trysts with hookers, Tedd broke in and said, "That's a BIG 6-9, good buddy.")

After Ray left WFLA in 1989, he went onto a 20 year career in TV news, from Ft. Myers, to Buffalo, to Richmond and finally to Fox 13 News in Tampa.

Over the years Ray won "Overall Achievement for Overall Excellence" from the Florida Associated Press, an Emmy nomination and his college, St. Bonaventure University inducted Ray into its radio "Hall of Fame."

Ray now is a Sarasota-based media consultant. He's producing videos, teaching media skills, helping businesses with press and publicity, and traveling the country as a travel writer.
