Where Are They Now?

Shotgun Charlie Bennett

A native Wisconsin "Cheesehead" with over thirty years in Broadcasting. Charlie enjoys hunting, fishing and the great outdoors as well as an occasional round of golf and watching the Green Bay Packers. (except when they play the Rams) Music from the sixties and seventies are his favorite and so is watching television shows from that era, especially The Andy Griffith Show.

Three time winner of the Achievment In Radio "AIR" award as the best afternoon personality in Philadelphia, Charlie got his start in radio in Duluth, Minnesota and has been a Program Director and air personality all over the nation including stops in Tampa, Tucson, Fargo, Moline, Philadelphia and yes, Green Bay!

What a summer it was, 1976 and Shotgun Charlie Bennett had just come to town to do mornings at Y95 FM. “The Summer of 76” was going strong, it was our nations Bi-Centennial and America was in a party mood. Ironically, so was Shotgun Charlie in a party mood.

Charlie was a high energy dynamo, from the Bill Hennes school of broadcasting. Bennett fit the mold Bill Hennes was looking for when building Y95. He sported “Screaming Jay Hawkins” at night, Dave Mann in the afternoon, and Shotgun Charlie in the morning. He has been all over since leaving Y95 in the late 70's, he has been in broadcasting 30 years.

Shotgun Charlie Bennett can he heard now Sundays from 2-6 PM on Oldies 98 WCAU-FM in Philadelphia. Charlie also does extensive free lance voice-over work for radio and television commercials.
