Where Are They Now?

Steve Triggs

A native of Maine, Steve Triggs broke into radio at WPLP in 1979. He worked as a producer/screener for several talk shows including Tedd Webb’s evening sports broadcast before moving to the news department as a reporter / editor.

Steve moved over to WDAE in 1980 to cover Tampa area news and Bucs football. After WDAE pared its news department to the bone in 1981, Steve joined WNSI News 1 radio as the St. Petersburg Bureau Chief. In June 1982, Steve made the transition from radio to television news moving to Orlando to take a job at WFTV, the ABC affiliate.

For the next 19 years, Steve covered everything from local politics to the worldwide ballooning exploits of Joe Kittinger and Rosie O’Grady’s Flying Circus.

Steve left WFTV in 2001 to manage the Communications Division for Orange County Government. In that capacity, Steve oversees two government television channels, a graphic design and print shop and handles media inquiries.

In his spare time, Steve collects guitars and plays in the Low Bid Band, a classic rock group made up of government workers. Steve has been married to Bobbie since 1977 and they have 2 children, Bailey 22, and Tyler 19. Steve remains an avid Bucs and Lightning fan.
