Wendy
Wax
I was born in St. Petersburg,
Florida and grew up on one of the most beautiful stretches of
beach in the world.
From childhood, books have been my passion.
It was during an annual reading of GONE WITH THE WIND that I decided
to attend the University of Georgia and it was there, as a budding
journalism major, that I discovered radio and began my broadcasting
career. I also studied in Italy, and have a BA in Mass Communications
from the University of South Florida.
After graduation, I worked for Tampas
PBS affiliate as a writer, producer, and on-camera talent. After
leaving WEDU-TV to freelance, I hosted a radio call-in show called,
Desperate & Dateless, did commercial voiceovers, and worked
on commercials and feature films shot throughout Florida. The
Home Front , a series I hosted and produced, aired on PBS affiliates
across the country.
During this time, I flew to New York on business
and accidentally met my husband also there on business
on the Carey Bus leaving JFK. We've been married for seventeen
years and have two boys: Kevin, eleven and Drew, nine.
Despite my love of books, it wasn't until my
oldest child was almost two that it occurred to me to try writing
fiction. It took a while, given a toddler and then a newborn,
but my first short contemporary romance was published in 1997
and my second came out in 1999.
7 DAYS AND 7 NIGHTS, a romantic comedy about
two radio talk show hosts (one of each sex) whose growing rivalry
gets them locked in an apartment for a week as part of a publicity
stunt, is my first for Bantam Books. Its due out in stores
July 1.
