A great night for Tampa Bay as the Buccaneers win the world championship of professional football. Congrats to John Gruden, the team, and to all the fans where I lived for 17 years. You deserve it. And just great to see our All-American, Dwight Smith from the Akron Zips, take it to the dance twice for the Bucs. Bucs!! World Champs!!

I hope to be comming back to the U.S. within the next 6 months. We must make up for time missed.

Dear Tedd,
We just spent the last hour really enjoying the "Where are they now" section of your wonderful Webbsite. Man, what incredible memories..and how lucky we were to know all the marvelous people who came from, and through the Tampa Bay area. By the way, did I miss Dan Johnson in the listings, we both worked for him at WFSO and he certainly was a driving force in the Bay Area broadcast history. Meanwhile, 'Love you man, thanks for doing this Webbsite, it's like a trip home. Please give my best regards to all. Ever your own, Chuck Borris, Post Falls, Idaho

Just amazing how much great talent came from "out of the Bay!" Here in West Palm Beach, I was able to listen to Stan Major both when he worked in Miami and while on the old Independent Broadcasters Network (which was NOT on 500 stations as stated... more like 75... I was on IBN as well). I grew up on Mel Phillips' WRKO in Boston (http://wrko.org) from where John Rode was one of its first jocks. Wayne Farris was a great TV news anchor in Miami whom I had the privilege of watching back when.. and of course, there's Bill "Wild Willy" Hennes.... who defies description. That man created great Top 40 stations in the seventies, that in turn spurned great personalities.
Tampa Bay Radio was and remains a great place to tune to. I certainly appreciate your keeping tabs on it!
We get to hear Todd Schnitt here on WIOD, coutesy of Monopoly Channel..... he also is one of the very finest from WFLA!

In 1970 I left Richmond, Virginia to take a job here with WLCY-TV as an assistant director. Dick Crippen, Art Johnson, Marshall Cleaver, Karol Kelly and Sonny Daye were my co-workers every night on the news. It was great to see Dick Crippen on your site and he brought back memories of those days. Thanks Tedd. Happy Holidays to you and all the broadcast professionals around the Bay area. I'm still in the business programming one of the many networks that operate out of Tampa bay.

Have you noticed how all the companies caught in the current rash of accounting scandals are part of the "service economy"? They produce nothing - Enron never produced a kilowatt of power, they just traded it around. Worldcom sold time on other company's communications systems--- Could it be that there isn't any real wealth being produced here? That these companies are as empty as a dot com selling advertising on its website?

Ted-da-da, I just gotta say this is one of the best & most easily navigable sights I've had the pleasure of visiting...which I do a minimum of once a week. Having been in Tampa since '62, visiting here really takes me down memory lane.
I am glad, however, that you removed that photo of you in the Speedo from the 'Hot Pinups' page. It looked like a SharPei with a rubber band.

Hey Tedd, It's the Leo again,
I just wanted to say that I applaud your commentary on the 07-24 section of your web page. Thats your opinion and many others as well. We should'nt be suprised when children dissapear. It's appauling sure, but society accepts it everyday for example, when a child who is being abused in their own home and isnt removed and placed in a corrective home immediatley.Although according to recent alligations the state may not be much better, Our families need tradition and values but so does our government. Our children need protection from whoever it may be. They are the innocents and it is our job as a society and culture to make them feel like home is safe.

I love your site (as well it seems does everyone else) Thanks for giving me the link. The article on the seaseme street character with HIV was really interesting. It's just incredible how things have changed since I myself was watching seaseme street. Things were so innocent then. Times are definatley changing but informative material distributed through educational shows such as that, make me feel a little better about society.
With love,

Mark is my 2nd cousin, and not related to the Valencia Garden Manuel Beiro, though Mark's first name is Manuel.
By the way, Shock Armstrong (Paul Reynolds), Manuel himself, Andy Hardy, David Agliano (Manuel's grand son) and myself are the only ones to ever do TV commercials for Valencia Garden.

is your cousin/hero Mark Berio related to the last owners of the valencia gardens? i know it makes me late to the party(not that i haven't lived here since "61" and don't remember "shock armstrong"),just not sure. also does he do his own writing of the description of the players in "battle bots"? you and jack do real well in the morning. great show with or without the estrogen. thank you!

This is such a great website, Teddy. It's fun flipping through names in Where Are They Now and seeing what our friends are doing. And it's an honor to sit next to you every morning.

Dude!
What a kick ass Webb site!
I used to work there in Tampa Bay at WWRM, and listened to you and Jack regularly. You guys have one of the finest morning shows in the country. More young radio guys need to listen to guys like you and Jack and learn the lost art of broadcasting.
Your "Where Are They Now" page is really informative. I remember coming across aircheck of Scott Painton when I was at Warm 94.9 and wondering if that was the same guy I used to listen to on Transtar as a kid. What a smooth announcer!
Also the Scott Robbins tribute was great. What a great picture of a great guy. It isad to know that he went like he did. I'm still very bummed about that news. He was also someone young jocks could learn a lot from.
Whatever happened to Cynthia Clarc from 102.5? She was terrific too. I met her right before I left and we had consolidated with the old Clear Channel stations. What a mess that was. Oi vey. Nice to see Carson Cooper on there, he is also an incredibly nice guy.
Peace,
Jack Shell

Great site..... And since a bunch of radio junkies are going thru here.... including us WLCY trainees.... Me and the former WLCY all night guy Neal Blase are looking for former nightime WLCY maniac (10p-2a) DR. JOHN RYDER!! It is extremely imprtant that we find out if this man is still alive!! We have the ultimate radio gig to offer him...

Dear Tedd:
This is the greatest gol-darn contraption I ever seen. They never had anything like this in Smokey Corners, W. Virginny.
It's just gol-darn good!

Tedd, Ya'll are the greatest. I have been around the world and back and have listened to a lot of radio and ya'll are by far the most well rounded group, menage' a twa, that I have ever had the privelege to hear over the airwaves. What a great addition Sharon was when you had your hiatus in the Fall a few years back. By the way, Jack makes up some of those words he uses. Great job Man, Please retire at this show, meaning, don't ya'll ever give up the time slot. Walter Cronkite should have been so fortunate.

Attaboy, Tedd! I really wish that I could listen to you guys here in Georgia. When are you gonna syndicate? It's nice to know that somebody who went through the WLCY training school made a name for himself.
Keep up the great work.
