Where Are They Now?

Clare Lynn

“It’s 95 degrees on Great Tampa Bay, its 3:30”, that is the way Clare Lynn kicked off his newscasts at 60's powerhouse WLCY 138. Clare Linn was a great newsman, always sounding energetic, and very articulate. His newscasts during the Vietnam War was how many people learned to pronounce those tough names.

Clare Lynn was canned by Johnny Bridges and Bill Rice when they took over WLCY in 1973, a tragedy indeed. They took over a station rated number one with huge numbers, and re-assembled it with parts that did not work. They wanted to re-invent the wheel, a wheel that was one of the most successful radio stations ever.

Clare Lynn passed away from cancer in 1984.
