Dr. Paul Bearer ( Dick Bennick )

Creature Feature star Dr Paul Bearer was actually radio DJ and salesman Dick Bennick. DR Paul was a big hit in the Tampa Bay area, parlaying his character on WTOG CH 44 into a huge success at store and super market openings, pulling up in his black Cadillac hearse.

Paul played the role always. I remember going out with him and his wife one night, when it came time to order drinks, you know what he asked for? A Bloody Mary !!!

He would close out his shows with “I’ll be lurking for you!!!”

Dick underwent open heart surgery in 1995, and died shortly afterwards.
