Powers
He was first heard in the area at WONN in
the early 1960s, and then at WFLA Radio as a DJ in 1965, Jon
Powers was a morning man then. His smoothness and great pipes
landed him a job at WRKO in Boston in 1967.
Jon Powers returned to Tampa Bay as a newsman
at WLCY, WNSI, WFLA and finally at Q105. He won numerous awards
for his work in broadcasting.
Jon was PIO for the Pasco County Sheriffs
Office. He passed away on Nov 24th, 2003 from kidney and liver
cancer.
