Kenny
Parks Kenny Parks was the
9pm til 1am jock at WLCY in the 1975-76 era. He was a great
kid with a very promising future in the biz when he walked
into the PDs office to announce he was leaving. Shocked,
the PD asked why? -- He became a minister.
Truly a class act in every sense of the word.
Kenny left for the seminary, and the good reverend has not been
heard from since.
Update: July 2004
Kenny Parks reappears after 27 years!
Suzette and I got married just before I left
to go to seminary, well, we're still married, have four sons
between the ages of 26 and 17, one daughter-in-law, and one beautiful
granddaughter, 11 months.
When I left WLCY, I went to seminary in Louisville
and did part-time news at WAKY for two years. Got out of
radio completely for about seven years (other than voicing a
few commercials for friends who owned businesses), pastored a
church in Altoona, PA for six years, then moved to Greenville,
SC where I was an associate minister at a 3,500-member church.
I had a 60-second daily radio program that
ran on several Christian stations around the east for a couple
of years entitled "A Single Minute," geared for singles. Also
had a Saturday morning airshift on the local Christian Contemporary
station in Greenville, WLFJ. I pastored another church
in South Carolina for 12 years, and three years ago moved
to High Point, NC where I am now senior minister at First Presbyterian
of High Point. Haven't done any radio work for about five
years now, but have thought about another daily "thought for
the day" type show, which I may try to get going soon.
I am honored that you remembered me to put
me on your website, which is awesome, by the way. I spent
hours reading all the stories of the people we worked with back
in the mid-70's. Thanks for the "blast from the past!"

birthday back in March, with my granddaughter, Isabelle Grace. If
