career in 1977 in Gallipolis, Ohio, then moved to WKEE in Huntington,

Northwest Ohio chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists,
and even taught journalism and writing as an adjunct faculty member
at the University of Toledo. Read has won numerous awards for reporting
over the years from organizations such as AP, UPI, and SPJ. He came to Tampa Bay in August, 1988 with his
wife Ann, and co-hosted the Shepherd and Shepherd Most Music
Morning on WARM 94.9 FM until December, 2000. Read has done extensive volunteer work as a
model and emcee on behalf of agencies such as the Humane Society
of North Pinellas, the American Cancer Society, Life Path Hospice,
the Tampa AIDS Network, and All Childrens Hospital, among
others. In particular, Read was heavily involved with the Cancer
Societys Making Strides, and Making Strides
Against Breast Cancer events for the past several years.
He has already jumped into things in Albany as well, helping out
with WGYs annual fund-raising campaign for the Childrens
Hospital at Albany Medical Center. Read and his current wife, Lorie, now make
their home in Clifton Park. In his spare time, he enjoys working
out at the gym, and plays mens senior baseball.
