What People Are Saying . . .

First, I'd like to say thanks to you for this Webbsite - It brings back so many great memories of WLCY (the hits during the day, Marshall Cleaver at night), Dr Paul Bearer, the Brisco brothers, Eddie Graham, WCWR (I still have the Sound of Solid Gold - Original Hits album), Skipping school to go to Gasparilla (live in Pinellas), and last but not least I enjoy yourself, Jack and Sharon every weekday morning. "Webb's World" hits the nail on the head -exactly). Thanks again, Tedd.

I only yesterday discovered your terrific "Webb" page and enjoyed every element of it. Of particular interest to me was "reconnecting" with so many of the people I worked with in the Bay area in the '60s on your "Where Are They Now?" pages.  Wonderful catching updates on people like Ed Ripley, Dean Drapin, Mel Phillips, Daylon Rushing, Stan Grams, Lolita (Dottie), among many others.  Very sad to learn, though, of so many others with whom I worked who are gone... Jim Stanley, Herb Hunt, Mark Wheeler, Roy Nilson, Claire Lynn, Jim Noel among them.  Of course, I'm aware of what's happened to a number of others included in "WATN", but it was particularly poignant recalling Bobby Lyons.  I worked with him maybe for only a year at WFLA, but remember fondly one of the nicest guys I've met in 44 years in the business.

And I remember, fondly, you as well.  Just wish I'd had the chance to get to know you better.

My best to you,    --ed

Many, many thanks for your website sir. I spent 3 hours tonight just going through the names listed, most of which I do remember very well. When I hit upon Salty Sol and Ernie Lee, I got tears in my eyes. The good memories of my childhood came back in a flood. My GOD...Jack Harris, Lassiter, you, Lionel, the Q Morning Zoo gang...thanks so much. Man...everyone is there!! Best to you sir and your family as well. Good fortune and health...

My name is Dino Roel. My father is James "Cookie" Roel who works with Pepito at his portrait business. I want to thank you for an AWESOME website. I have spent nearly 5 hours on it after only two "hits." What a rush it is to read about so many local celebs from the past. Your website brings back a lot of memories. Two questions...

1. Whatever happened to "The Animal"? Considering the Super Bowl win last year, I've never heard him call CT or "The Big Dog."

2. What about a "Where Are They Now?" on the Rowdies? I was hooked on them growing up in the late 70's, remembering the Bucs lost every week, whereas, the Rowdies ALWAYS won. I know a few of them still live in the bay area. In fact, I've seen Winston DuBose at Bern's and Ivarone's. The other day I found a tape of a Cosmos-Rowdies game at Tampa Stadium in 1979. Hard to believe... but there were 45,000 there that day.

Anyway, I thought (after looking at your website) that you would be the one to answer my questions. Thanks again for a great website and I hope to meet you one day.
Regards, Dino Roel

Tedd, I have been listening to the station for about 20 years. Thanks for your "where are they now?" section. It is amazing  how many people have come and gone and how much they/you have enriched my life. Thanks...

What a Christmas present! I was listening to you and Sharon this morning very early and heard you mention the "Where are they now" part of your web page. I grew up here from 50 through 70 (In Pinellas Park) and am now a minister who just came back here two years ago. I grew up with and on WLCY which I miss
Peace to you and yours, Rev. Wally Reed

I've finally found the "Where are They Now" link and I was totally stunned by the wealth of information you've put together. I'd been trying to think of Ed Ripley's last name for quite a number of years, and there he is right there in the "E's." What an amazing accumulation of "who's who."
Russ Offenbach

Thanks guy, this is an awesome site... Thanks for sharing your many years of Tampa radio history with us.... I go back to your "Johnny Angel" days....

Having lived in the Tampa Bay area for more than 30 years, it was certainly a trip down memory lane to browse through the "Where are they now?" section.

Great site Tedd! I loved the stroll down memory lane. It reminded me of the years of riding to school laughing my butt off at the Q-Zoo.
