Bye bye Miss American Pie, drove my Chevy to the levy, but the levy was dry. Don MacLean was a talented singer-songwriter, but sadly years ahead of his time.

I could not help but hum that song in my head yesterday as I heard of the Beltway Sniper’s 13th victim, and 10th killing. Things have changed in the land I love so much. September 11th 2001 changed it all, that’s the day the music died.

The Sniper has exposed America’s Achilles heel, attacking our everyday way of life. Bus stops, gas stations, school yards, cuts down people mowing their lawn, he hits mainstream Americana. The Sniper knows no limits, no age, no ethnic nor gender boundaries, he targets us all. He must be stopped.

I am afraid that even if he is caught today, his legacy is one that will live on. Any terror organization looking to upset the apple cart needs to look no further than the Beltway Sniper. The Sniper has blueprinted the path for future destruction. Can you imagine 5 Snipers at one time across this country? The economy would tank. Schools would close, no sporting events, pro or amateur for fear of being hit. You can imagine the rest.

Sadly, America has changed, we all changed on 911, and we are just starting to understand how big the change is. Step by step we see what others like Israel and Lebanon have experienced for years. We are just at the first level.

May God have mercy on all of us?

That's how I see it!
