When Hillary Clinton was campaigning for the US Senate, she took sides with the Puerto Ricans who wanted the US Navy to quit using the bombing range at Vieques. Hillary said it was the right thing to do, to honor the request of the Islanders.

There were protest in New York City where Hillary attended along with the usual suspects, Edward James Olmos, Al Sharpton, Robert Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, everyone but Yul Bryner. The Ricans were determined to stop the Navy from using Vieques. The natives paraded with signs saying ‘Navy Get Out!’

Well sometimes things just don’t work out the way we had figured. The US Navy decided to close The Roosevelt Roads Naval Air Station. The base happens to be one of Puerto Rico’s largest employers. The base pumps about 300 million dollars into the local economy.

The government of Puerto Rico was astonished, those same voices who were calling for the Navy to ‘Get Out!’, were now saying it was not fair for the Navy to pull out.

Admiral Robert Natter, the commander of the Atlantic fleet said, “without Vieques, there is no need for the Navy facility at Roosevelt Roads.”

You don’t want the Navy, then you need the money.

That's how I see it!
