Academia has long been a bastion of liberal thinking, no surprise here. What came out of New York’s Columbia University this weekend at an anti war gathering was both shocking and disturbing.

Professor Nicholas De Genova stunned the crowd of 3000 by declaring he would like to see “a million Mogadishu's”, a reference to the 1993 massacre in Somalia where 18 US Army Rangers were killed and their bodies dragged through the streets by angry mobs. Shoving further contempt for our men and women in uniform he added that the US Military is made up of people who have a "treacherous lack of prospects for a decent life."

De Genova did not stop there, no he went on to say “Peace is subversive, because peace anticipates a very different world than the one in which we live – a world where the US would have no place.”

That is what our kids are being taught in college, that is what they have been taught for a long time, and that same mind set is also teaching your kids in high school. We have heard about the Maine school teachers harassing young military dependents, telling them their parents were going to be responsible for many kids dying from chemical warfare.

De Genova can say what he wants, he is tenured and Columbia University can’t easily fire him. De Genova is aiding and abetting the enemy by his statements, particularly by saying “The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the US military.”

Where is the rage? Talk about hate speech? I guess hate speech is determined by who is targeted. Every one has a right to Free Speech, but they also bear the consequences of their statements.

That's how I see it!
