Well the Nazis are at it again, celebrating
their victory at the ballot box, banning smoking from bars and
restaurants. Yeah it's a big happy day in no smokeville.
While many are celebrating, there are some
that are not celebrating. Many waitresses complain that smokers
are better tippers, thus non smoking means less money for their
families, a pay cut sort of. Some will lose their jobs if what
happened in New York and California is any indication. Revenues
at many clubs and bars went down so much, they had to trim the
sails, including the firing of bouncers.
All of this because of a nuisance, not a health
hazard. The World Health Organization had a report a few years
back claiming second hand smoke was NOT a health hazard. The report
was snuffed, never saw the light of day because it was not politically
correct. Yes second hand smoke may make your clothes and hair
stink, but it won't kill you.
Now we are going after the telemarketers. Yes
they are a pain in the patootie, but they need to eat. While we
are all rushing to the dontcall.org web page and signing off on
those annoying calls, many telemarketers are getting their pink
slips. Many of those are single parents with mouths to feed.
It doesn't matter to us though, as long as
we don't have to deal with their calls, screw their families.
Isn't this a warm and friendly planet?
