Finally a message is sent, the tail does not wag the dog! Keyshawn
Johnson may have been one of the best receivers in the National
Football League at one time, but not anymore. The tall,
rangy ball hawk from Southern Cal became a cancer on the Tampa
Bay Bucs. This malcontent was dragging down the team, particularly
the younger players, with his attitude and disrespect for the
team's Head Coach Jon Gruden. Johnson left the Bucs no
alternative but to pull the trigger.
This action should send a loud message to many on that team,
I don't want to mention names like Warren Sapp, and Kenyatta
Walker, two starters who have been phoning it in.
Sapp has not been giving it his rendition of “heart and soul”,
and Kenyatta Walker is a hopeless situation.
How could the defending World Champions evaporate so quickly? All
it takes is for one guy who wants every passing play to go to
him, to start bitching publicly. Johnson a few weeks back was
saying the best coach he ever played for was Bill Parcells. At
that time, Johnson was telling Bucs GM Rich McKay “I will not
be part of this team in 2004”. Johnson was telling his team mates
how screwed up the offensive game plan was (because he wasn't
getting enough touches). Johnson is the author of the book “Give
Me The Damn Ball”. The title says it all, he cares more about
personal stats than victories.
A tip of the hat to Gruden and McKay, when you are suffering
from cancer, the cancer must be removed.
The patient is in stable condition, and fully expected to recover.
That's
how I see it!
