CBS has found some scapegoats for the Dan Rather memo gate. Four members of that illustrious team got the boot this week when an internal audit discovered major foul ups in the gathering of material for a 60 Minutes special designed to take the wheels off the Bush presidency.
Can you say hypocrite? Why does Rather still have a job? Sure he won’t be anchoring the nightly news, but he will still be there. Rather claimed to the investigators the stuff in the memos was true, no proof, but he was damn sure it was true. This even after proof had been offered the docs were forged. Why does CBS stick with him? Because the bosses at CBS think like him. Liberals in the media. Nothing new, Bernard Goldberg detailed the liberal bias at CBS a few years ago in his book, and then followed it up with another book on the same subject. The report cleared Rather and CBS of bias, Bull hockey!
It was Rather who rushed this story to be aired on the eve of the elections, but he would not declare Ohio a Bush win on election night, because that would have sealed the electoral votes for the president. Remember the key Kerry strategy was not to surrender that night, Rather stuck with the game plan, though every other network had declared Bush the winner. Rather was also last to report Monica Lewinsky’s affair with Bill Clinton. Naw, Dan Rather is not biased??? And the Pope isn’t Catholic.
