I have heard the arguments on Terri Schiavo, pro and con, and some in between.
I hear them in the hallways here at the radio station, I hear them at pubs, restaurants, bowling centers, and across my fence talking to my neighbor.
If one good thing comes out of this fiasco, it will be more people drawing up living wills. Seriously, that will dispel the arguments that are sure to follow about what to do with you.
Maybe Terri did not want to live like this, but we have only Michael Schiavo’s word. Michael is her “husband” who long ago moved on, though still married to Terri, he has a live in girlfriend and fathered two children with her.
Had Terri left a living will, none of the fallout, the hurt, the vicious divide would be among us.
If you do something this weekend, make sure you come up with a living will that leaves no stone unturned. Make sure you talk to several members of the family and even make a video tape of it, better yet several CDs.
Your family will sleep better knowing your wishes are being carried out.
