The Major League Baseball Players Association, the players union will now take a look at the proposal from Bud Selig, the Commissioner, to see if the agree with his plan to tackle the steroid problem plaguing the game today. What a joke.
This is the same union that protected Steve Howe in the 80s. If your memory is slipping, Howe was busted 7 times for violating the leagues drug policy, his problem was cocaine. You can see how successful the un ion is at policing their own.
Steroids are responsible for shattering the home run record that stood since 1961, when Roger Maris hit 61 home runs without any aid from drugs. Today’s long ball lords do not seem to mind they cheated in reaching their plateau.
It is time for the union to get on board and protect its members from the disastrous results steroid abuse brings. Ask former NFL stars Lyle Alzado and Steve Courson, ask former professional wrestler Billy “Super Star” Graham. Steroids will maim or kill, no questions about it. Check and see how many professional wrestlers have died prematurely because of their dallying with steroids.
The league is a joke as well, 50 game suspension suggested by the Commissioner. Major League Baseball is happy to see home run races like the one between Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa a few seasons back. It drew record crowds, and the big money is what it is all about. I do not think they, the players and the league, really want to solve this dilemma. They are hoping we turn our attention elsewhere and stay out of their business.
Steroids may be bad for your health, but they are very good for business.
That’s How I See It!
God Bless,
