Many were shocked to see the mass demonstrations this past week over the proposed new legislation dealing with illegal immigration. It was started on Spanish media, radio and TV stations across America imploring on the citizens to march. The results were compelling, and will probably result in more politicians buying time on those outlets when election campaigns get underway. No telling what the listeners were told that inspired them to show up in such numbers.
Truth be told, the word illegal is the operative word in the argument. We are all immigrants, unless were are Native Americans. All of us came from somewhere else, BUT, we got here legally and through the proper channels. When immigration is not limited, you end up with what see in California and New York. Both states are over crowded with illegal aliens, and both states constantly run into financial difficulties because of the strain the illegals place on the system.
Illegals are why you pay $10 for an aspirin in the hospital, for they do not pay. Illegals are why you need to build more schools at such a rapid pace, places like California guarantee illegals an education. Some places get them a utilities subsidy. We foot the bill.
Neither party wants to solve this problem. Democrats count on the illegals for a future vote, while Republicans view them as cheap labor.
This problem will never be solved.
