The Bush administration in a reversal from previous stances, has invited Syria and Iran to join in talks aimed at stabilizing Iraq.
This is asking the wolves to protect the hen house. Is W kidding? I am afraid not. If you can’t beat em, join em.
This is one reason Republicans were defeated in 2006, and this is why Republicans will be defeated in 2008. No backbone.
Iran and Syria will do nothing to help stabilize Iraq, the turmoil and chaos has the USA trying desperately to find an honorable way out of the country. There is no easy way out, you have to accomplish the mission, or face the consequences down the road.
The insurgents know how important this battle is, and will not stop at anything, they will not give up knowing we have flexible knees, and are gutless to boot.
We might as well face it; we are not the country we once were. Khrushchev was right, we will crumble from within.
