Found out I couldn't stay out of the game nor afford retirement so I am doing a morning Country gig on WXOF in Homosassa. The old radio guys are bring back memories and it's nice to know we still have some connections with the old A.M. radio bunch. One of my old stable mates from WILZ put me onto your web site and will definitely put it in my favorites to keep up with what is going on with you guys. Comments:   Hi Tedd, It's always great visiting your website and seeing "what" and "who" has been added since my last visit. I have found that radio seems to have one of two effects on those of us who choose to explore a career in broadcsting. You either hate it or you don't. There is NO grey area. Those very few who find they hate radio, make that discovery very early on in their quest for finding that perfect career. For the rest of us, radio becomes addicting, habit forming and a very REAL part of our lives. We very quickly develope a PASSION for communicating with others using the radio spectrum as a means of delivering our message. Like most who have spent more years than they care to remember in this fascinating jounrny across the airwaves, I started out as a music dee jay, spinning tunes from the hot 100 playlist until one day the talk radio "Bug" bit me. I am fortunate to have become the founder and PM drive talk host on a new radio network where the "Marc Tyll Radio Show can be heard weekdays Noon - 3PM. Although I have never worked in Tampa Bay radio, most (if not all) of my professional radio influences have come from the likes of the former Q105, the Legendary WLCY, and other great Tampa Bay radio stations. Considering Tampa Bay has such a wealth of radio talent and excellent radio stations, I never quite understod why there are no FM talk stations in the Bay area? Well, in the meantime, we have News Radio 970 WFLA which is number one in my book. Tedd, keep up the excellent work you are doing on air as well as with what you are doing with teddwebb.com. I vist often and I learn something new each time I'm here. Keeping It Real!!! Marc Tyll

When you have a few minutes, go to my network of Websites for production pros. It's amazing what damn near a million $ and 5 years of effort can do: www.AdProducer.com. It's also amazing how much of your time 250 Websites can take up. Hey do you remember a jazz pianist/comedian/hippie named Biff Rose? He produced 11 records, huge hit in the late 60's-early 70's. On Johnny Carson 7 times one year. He and I are going to have a concert/party at my place (it's big)Feb 14. We're calling it the Saint Valentines Day Messiah Cure. Man, if you could make it that would be great. Good time guaranteed. Hi to Jack and the gang. They're invited too. Thanks for your frienship.

Comments:   I worked with Jon Powers at Q 105 in the 1970's. Jon was the station's first newscaster. Jon was quite conservative compared to the Q105 deejays. He must have wondered what he had gotten into when we all first met. Jon was moonlighting as a highway patrol auxiliary at the time. I would come into work after partying all day and Jon would look at me with a bemused smile and a shake of his head. God Bless you,Jon. Rest in peace

Comments:   I remember searching for Jon to find out what happened to him post-WRKO and found him in the Pasco County sheriff's office. When we spoke he sounded like the same old Jon. Jon Powers was never one for words. We spent a half hour on the phone reminiscing about working together at WFLA and WRKO. He traced his life after Boston and I was happy to hear that he was well, working and happy with his life. Jon was one of the people I remembered when I went to Boston and not only did I like his on-air work, Jon fit the mold of the type of people we were looking for in putting that fledgling station together. Jon had outstanding qualities as a person and that was what we were looking for in anyone being considered for WRKO, from the entire staff down to the allnight jock. There were some mistakes in judgement made and a few disappointments (as GM Perry Ury will attest). We were not wrong about Jon, however. I wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to Jon and hope that those who worked with Jon at either WFLA or WRKO will do the same. Mel Phillips CBS Radio New York City

Not sure if you knew this or not but last week Christina Aguilera was stopped at an airport when the metal detector went off. She removed all her jewelry but whenever the wand was waved around her nether regions, the alarm went off. Seems that Christina has a few piercings in her genetalia. Ouch! I know you enjoy hearing the word "panties". That's a great word but what about the word "genetalia". Whenever I hear that word, not only do I immediately stop what I'm doing to listen, my ears stiffen up. Later!

It was a blast looking up old friends...I feel awkward asking, but I guess I'll just lay it out - I think we need to have Eric Logan, Mike Culotta, and myself added to the site - It would be an honor if you would agree for you to include me, and I know Eric would also be pleased. I am unreachable at the Infinity Broadcasting Manager's Meetings til Thursday 11/20, but anytime after that - let's catch up. I still own the house in Indian Rocks Beach - so I am stil part of the community. Thanks for the consideration, and remember - always use Ammaco gas...you often get a bonus with your fill-up. Comments:   Hello everyone, Kat here. I have an URGENT PLEADING MESSAGE TO ALL!!! On Thursday October 16, 2003 at approximately 1:00 PM Eastern time, I was stopped at a red light where I was rear ended by a dark brown or gray colored Jeep Cherokee with a Pasco County Florida tag. The driver of the vehicle was a middle aged man, thin about 160-185 pounds, 5'11"-6'2" tall, salt & pepper hair with a mustache, wearing a ball cap, jeans, and caucasion. The rear window of his Jeep was missing, and the Jeep was dirty. The tires were somewhat worn. We were both facing westbound on Linebaugh Avenue at the intersection of Linebaugh and Anderson Road. He had gotten out of his vehicle, looked at the back of my car, came to my window and said there was no damage to my car. I told him I was severely injured and couldn't move. (I had never gotten out of my car as I was unable to move at all.) This man IMMEDIATELY ran to his jeep, dodged through the lunch hour traffic, cut through the Amoco gas station on the corner, and headed northbound on Anderson Road. If ANYONE has any information of this vehicle, PLEASE contact the Hillsborough County Sherrif's Department at 813.247.0330 and refer to case number 03-103648, Officer AC Bennett. ANY information you have to help me find the man who did this will be very helpful and greatly appreciated!!! Thank you & God Bless!!! Kat Teddy, thanks for letting me post this... Love to you & Trudy & The Kids as always!!!

Comments:   About Mel Phillips: This man is so incredibly talented, of course he is at one of New York's top stations, WCBS-FM! But I have an amazing aircheck of him from 1967 at http://wrko.org - where the employees of RKO General were on strike, so he filled in as morning DJ and GM Perry Ury did 20/20 News!! Since the engineers were on strike, it may have been that Mel had to run his own board as well. Regardless, Mel has weathered format after format after change after change after change of the Radio business... and is still on his feet! WALT must have been one heck of a station.. too bad I was living too far away to hear it. But wasn't everything better back then?

Comments:   Great web page..... What ever happened to Roy Nilson? Larry Kent Brownfield? I spent a few months at WALT in 64 and early 65.....til I was fired because of my bad attitude...(I refused to go to Orlando and take care of the station mascot)... When I walked in to WALT, I was told I would be using James Bond on the air. I had been hired for news... but the only thing I knew about news was where the AP machine was located. Larry Vance, who hired me, was doing mornings, Ron Hart at mid=day. Marv Raye was doing afternoons untill he, if I remember right, committed suicide. Then came Larry O'Brian. I did mid-day for a short time, after Marv's death... Then ran board for O'Brian, who after going out drinking with Vance and others, had severely burned both hands and arms, when he passed out while washing his bands... I saw Ron again in 73, when he worked for a small am in Raleigh... but not for long...I later heard he had been at WGIV in Charlotte.... but lost track after that... After Tampa, I worked at WONN and WIRK,before Dick Lawrence(W*FLA hired me at WPTR,Albany, NY... I later worked at Swingin Radio England, WFUN. Miami, as Larry Dean. I started using my legal name, Frank Laster. whem I moved to WQDR. Raleigh. I have been with WSOCFM in Charlotte, for the past ten years.

Comments:   This is an awesome site!!!! As a kid in the 70s, I remember so well listening to the legendary WLCY-AM radio 138. Living in Ocala, I could not receieve AM 1380 during the day, but at night WLCY came in clear and perfect. Our local cable system carried WLCY-TV 10 ABC where Marshall Cleaver would deliver the 6PM and 11 PM news, and I had no idea WLCY-TV had a radio station until one night while channel surfing, by accident, I found WLCY 1380 and was hooked after that. All the "GREAT" Tampa Bay radio jocks were on WLCY, The "GREAT" 138!!! I also remember every Friday night and Saturday afternoon when I would watch Dr. Paul Bearer on WTOG-TV Channel 44's "Creature Feature." His sponsors such as "Lice Milk, Big Dead, Canable Soup" and others gave that extra added touch to his "horrible" persona as he MCed the frightning weekly film festival. I enjoyed veiwing Dr. Paul Bearer's Bio in the "Where Are They Now" section. It certainly brought back many memories. Dr. Pual Bearer's passing has left a void that will never be filled by anyone. As Dr. Paul Bearer would say, "I'll Be Lurking For You." Also, I once worked with the legendary Burl McCarty during the late 70s after "Captain Mac" had long since retired from WDAE-AM 1250 Tampa. At the age of 15 I had the pleasure of knowing Burl while working my first radio job in Dunnellon, Florida at WTRS-AM-FM. Burl was a true friend and a talented profesional. No one could read the news and pronounce words with such perfection and professionalism as Burl McCarty. I was saddened by the news he had passwed away in 1985. Thanks Tedd for doing such a wonderful job on this website. Many memories were briefly relived by me after I veiwed the pages. It felt good once again reliving my youth. Marc Tillery, President WZTX-FM

Comments:   Tedd, Hey man, we're on the same page. Last week, when you guys had on Eric Deggans on WFLA Radio, you called him on his "Fox is right-wing, but Jennings & Brokaw are cool" St. Pete Times column that same morning, I had already emailed that smug punk Eric. Subj: Re: Apr. 14th "In TV war news....." Date: 4/14/03 9:51:03 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: PalmHearts To: deggans@sptimes.com Hi Eric, Let's see.... bashing of Fox News' coverage as "gloating...fueding...side-taking right-wingers" while avoiding negative characterization when describing shameless left-leaning network anchors like Jennings & Rather....me thinks you, Eric, might be one of the disgruntled Bush-haters who craves news that "fits your own cultural world view". If you are like most of your liberal brethren, why is it so hard to realize that the polls & focus groups (to which the left usually looks to for direction) are telling us that the masses are approving of the war, of GWB, and of these "right-leaning cable news channels". We enjoy your work better when it's not so tainted by your political ideology. A little more objectivity please, dude. I mean you ARE a TV reporter, not a political columnist, right? Rick in Sarasota ********************* Eric's response: "Actually, I'm a TV columnist, which means I get to spout my opinion in any column I write. The main purpose of the story was to outline my opinion about war coverage, including the rightward tilt of Fox News"

Comments:   This comment is in reference to your comment about Tom Daschle wanting "our President to get down on his knees when dealing with Saddam or France. Bend over and appease." Maybe you should suggest that Daschle go ove to Bagdad and bend over to Saddam Husseim (or whomever is in charge) and see what gets shoved up one end or the other. Unfortunatly, too many people in this world have subsititute emotion for researh and reasoning. As Thomas Paine said, "Reasoning with those who have abandoned reason is like administering medicine to the dead". PS Reached your site from Glenn Beck's site.

Comments:   Hey Tedd, I listen to you, Jack and Sharon every morning. Without you three I would never know what is going on in the world. Also, this morning (3/21/03) you mentioned that you had a list of celebrities who made dumb ass comments about President Bush. Could you possibly e-mail that list to me so I can share it with my friends. That way we can hopefully hit all of them in their pocket books and not see their movies! Thanks!

I exiled my self to Texas, where the hedonistic tradition was refined to an art, and then I woke up on Guam. Good luck with this site.www.mp3.com/jwfonte

Keep giving them hell and it's people like you and the rest of the show that let them know the silent has been awakened. Ihave given up on calling in because of the drop call ratio.
